Set Me Free is a dark romance I do not advise anyone who is sensitive to certain subjects or sexual situations to read it as it does contain certain situations.
Set Me Free Torn and betrayed by her family, Emmalyn is taken and forced to live with her mother and stepfather, who happens to be the leader of one of the biggest sex trafficking rings around.
Thrown into a world of sex and slavery, Emmalyn is roomed with Kodah. A hot-headed boy, whose only weakness is her.
Both lost and tortured in this endless hell, they cling to the hope that one day they will make it out, that one day they will be set free.

I know I shouldn’t feel this comfortable in a stranger’s arms, but for some reason, I can’t help it. He looks at me like I hold the light to his darkness, like I’m a treasure.

Lying my head back down on the pillow, we continue to stare at each other, his hands running up and down my back in soothing motions. I’m not sure how long we stayed like that before he finally spoke, his voice breaking the silence for the first time.
“What’s your name?” he asks, his voice soft, barely above a whisper
“Emmalyn.” The way he whispers my name sends shivers across my body
“What’s your name?” I ask, my voice small and shy
Silence follows as we lie there. I think he has fallen asleep when his hand caresses my face. Opening his mouth, Kodah says the very thing to give me hope, to give me a fighting chance, and steals my heart while sealing our fate. “I’m going to get us out of here, Emmy, and when I do, I’m going to keep you.”

My Thoughts on Set Me Free

When I saw on the blurb it was a dark romance I  was like SOLD!  I was not familiar with M.R. Leahy or heard of her before I saw this book.  While at times I was questioning why I was reading as it touches on the one subject that is outside my comfort zone (child slavery) it was done it a way where it was the back story.  There are flashes from the past and that is where the gray areas where and where my heart broke.  Overall though the suspense was killer! I was totally biting my nails thinking what is going to happen!! You knew something was going to go down but never knew exactly.  I am excited to see what else is in store from this author as I will be reading the next installment!

Emmy was lead to believe on that her Father no longer wanted her.  Her mother who was never really in her life picked her up one day and took her away just saying she was no longer wanted.  She was never dreamed what was in the store for her.  Being at the tender age of eleven she didn’t know the evils of the world until she met her Step-Father.  She would be trained to be a slave and a day would come where she would be sold.

Kodah was the one bright spot in her dark existence.  He was there to always console Emmy and just be her friend.  He accepted the life he would have but he knew Emmy was too good for that and was determined to get her out.

Years would go by and on Emmy’s sixteenth birthday the day had finally came. She would be sold.  Kodah knew that time was short and he needed to execute a plan he had been formulated for years.  This was the edge of your seat what the hell is going to happen moment for me.  The bond between Emmy and Kodah was special and you knew something was going to happen.  What happens?? You will need to read Set Me Free to find out!! All lovers of dark romance need to check this one out!
