THE NEW NOVEL FROM THE #1 BESTSELLING AUTHOR OF THE THIS MAN TRILOGY AND ONE NIGHT TRILOGY!
People think they have Camille Logan nailed: daddy's girl; beautiful, spoiled young woman with her father's bank balance to fund her lifestyle. But Camille is determined to have a life free from his strings. Out on her own, she's made mistakes, including one that found her clawing her way back after a stint in rehab and plenty of bad press. Now, after fighting so hard to be independent and happy, she finds her life threatened as a result of her father's ruthless business dealings. Caught between resentment and fear, Camille prepares herself for the measures her father will take to protect her. But nothing could prepare her for the ex-SAS sniper who crashes into her life.
Jake Sharp resides in his own personal hell. He was distracted from duty once before, and the consequences were devastating--both personally and professionally. He vowed never to let that happen again. Accepting the job of bodyguard to Camille Logan isn't the kind of distraction from his demons he should take. Women and Jake don't mix well, yet protecting the heiress seems the lesser of two evils. But Jake soon discovers that she isn't the woman she's perceived to be. She's warm, compassionate, her presence settling, and his duty to protect her soon goes deeper than a well-paid job, no matter how hard he fights it. He needs absolution. He comes to need Camille. But he knows he can't have both.
Review & Giveaway: The Protector by Jodi Ellen Malpas
My Thoughts on The Protector…
I’m so torn on my feelings for The Protector by Jodi Ellen Malpas. A part of me really enjoyed it but then a part of me thought it dragged at times and I found myself distracted as I read. I loved the story concept as the blurb is what drew me in and made me want to read. The Protector has it’s moments. I was on the edge of my seat and nervous as hell wondering how things were going to play out. The sexual tension between Cami and Jacob was off the charts and at one point of remember thinking when are they just going to give in!! My only downfall, I felt like it was too long. Besides that I did enjoy the story and thought it was a solid 3.5 star read. This story is told in dual points of view and is a complete story.
Jacob works for a private security firm and he normally gets lost in work, booze and women to hide the scars from his past. But with a new job he will be forced to face more than he bargains for. He is hired by a high profile CEO to protect his socialite daughter. Threats are coming in and Jacob is to protect her from whoever is sending these threats. Jacob has several road blocks in the way, he feels like the CEO is not upfront and completely honest with him about what he knows about these threats and the one he is hired for wants no part of it.
Cami doesn’t see the need for a bodyguard and does what she can to make Jacob’s live miserable. But what Cami doesn’t realize is that her plan is about to backfire. While at an event an ex-boyfriend will show Cami that protection is needed and Jacob can make her feel something she didn’t even realize she was missing. The lines start to get blurred and Cami starts to see Jacob as something more than a protector. The feeling of being safe and secured will lead her down a path she never expected.
Jacob knows he should not cross the line with Cami. She is a job and nothing more. He has his own demons he keeps locked deep down inside and she doesn’t deserve the baggage he comes with. He knows he needs to get to the bottom of the threats and keep Cami safe. If the lines get crossed there’s no going back. Can he get to the bottom of things before they give into their desires? You will need to read to find out!
