Review: Jackal by Tarryn Fisher and Willow Aster
The writing team of Fisher and Aster is blowing me away! I’m so loving the End of Men series!! First with Folsom and now with Jackal! I was immediately drawn back into the futuristic world where women ruled and men where used to impregnate the female population. The numbers of the world are shrinking and the pressure to make a male baby is increasing. Jackal is suspenseful and a tale like anything I’ve ever read. It really makes you think about what would happen if society changed and how you would adapt. It’s quite interesting and fascinating to think about!
Of all the End Men, Jackal is the party boy. He loves his job and has no qualms about it. He’s doesn’t think about his job to seriously and enjoys that he can have sex with as many women as he can. He’s never took his job too seriously or cared about the Society who now rules the regions. Everything is about to change when he meets Phoenix. She will make him question his purpose and for the first time, he experiences something he never thought about, love.
Phoenix is a top Ballerina and a real life Robin Hood. Since she’s at the top of her profession, money is no issue for her but she sees a opportunity to help those who are less fortunate. She’s never been caught stealing jewelry but the high society elites until Jackal. He’s catches her and sees her for who she is. But its Jackal who will steal her heart in the end.
In Folsom we got a glimpse of the revolution against the Society and it continues in Jackal. Phoenix and Jackal will become an important part and neither expected the role they will play. And never mind their chemistry! They have this magnetic pull toward each other that never have felt before. I loved their banter and dialogue and was rooting for them to be able to make things work. Can they find love in the middle of a revolution? Jackal is an End Men and his sole job is to have sex with the women of the region, can Phoenix accept this and be ok with it? With Phoenix having a high public profile will she continue to help the rebellion without getting caught? You will need to read Jackal to find out!! This was so much more than what I thought it would be and was pleasantly surprised!! You need to read Jackal to see how it all plays out!!
