Edwin Allen MercerI want them all to read my words. And they do. Every last blood-stained sentence, they've read and praised me for. They love the gore and violence, the realness. And I get a sense of power with it all because I know a secret: the victims in my books—they’re real and have all died on my table. And maybe that’s why the last book had such awful reviews. Murder is, after all, a dirty little thing. Some can stomach it. Others can’t. My answer to those reviews: find a woman to co-author with. To be the next pathetic character in my book. Pity she’s so pretty.

Miranda CrossAll I’ve ever wanted was to be successful as a writer so when I was offered the opportunity to co-author a book with my idol, EA Mercer, I jumped at the chance. He’s beautiful and a literary genius, but something about him makes my stomach knot. And maybe it’s my overactive imagination making my hairs stand on end when he walks up behind me.
After all, these wicked little words we’re typing are only fiction. They’re only fiction...

My Thoughts on Wicked Little Words

I finished Wicked Little Words this morning and I have to say, I’m left a little speechless.  This is not an easy thing to do!!  If you follow my reviews, you know  I love suspense and the not so normal books.  Well holy smokes, Wicked Little Words is just all of those and so much more!!  This is one book that will definitely have you scared out of your mind!  Those little things that go bump in the night WILL keep you up after reading!  But gah… I just loved it!  The plot is so twisted and genius!  This was co-written by two authors and the writing was seamless.  I could not tell which author wrote which part and has left me thinking, how do they come up with this stuff!!  I’ve read other books from BT but this was the first book from Ms Cole and you believe that she has a new fan in me!  I’m starting to question my own sanity after reading but this just reminds me why we read.  To escape from the norm and be in someone else’s imagination.   It’s a scary place sometimes but we sometimes we need the dark and gritty. This was a HUGE 5 star read and I hope we see more from the writing duo!

Edwin Mercer is a New York Times best selling author that has success writing things straight out of your nightmares.  He’s had a very successful career but with his last book having just mediocre reviews, he decides to find a writing partner to assist in writing his next novel.   He decides to open up a national essay contest in hopes someone will spark his interest.  When he finds the one that will write with him, she has no idea what’s in store for her.  He may be a NYT best selling author, but what she gets was something she never expected!

Miranda Cross has idolized Edwin Mercer for as long as she can remember.  His writing was so realistic and he just had a gift of making you feel like you were a part of his novel.  She was a loner and felt like she never fit in anywhere but when it came to Mr Mercer writing, she connected with it.   She never thought in a million years her essay would win and she would get to write with her idol.  She also never expected for Edwin to be as extrinsic and a little bit crazy.   She felt like there was something off with him.  She would soon find out just how much so.

Edwin sees Miranda as a possession and when she catches the eye of another guy, that little bit of crazy will start to come out.  Miranda had always felt like something as off but now Edwin just seems like he’s lost it.  The multiple points of views in Wicked Little Words was genius and the reader gets to see player’s role as the story unfolds.  The ending left me literally speechless!! SPEECHLESS!!  I just don’t know what to make of it but to say it was disturbing, but also bloody brilliant!  I would only read this one if you have read a dark book before as there is graphic detail of things you cannot start to imagine.  But if you love the darker side, THIS IS A MUST READ!

Because sometimes characters need to be flawed.
