Falling in love is easy.
Falling out of love is the hardest thing in the world.
And Elin and Ty Whitt are terrible at it.
The first time the local basketball star smiled at Elin, she was a goner. It was just so damn easy to fall for the dark-haired hometown hero with his charming smile and strong, athletic build.
Thousands of sleepy smiles, aimless drives down country roads, and squeaks of the backdoor after a swing shift later, reality hits. And it hits hard. Falling in love was definitely the easy part. Watching it break apart was impossible.
Through the tears, the second-guesses, the memories of a life built together, the world keeps spinning. With each turn comes clarity and hope—sometimes in the form of a pair of muddy boots by the back door or from the words of a wise friend.
When Ty shows back up with a new found determination to put his family back together, Elin's torn between the fights of the past and the possibility of a new start. This is the man that holds her heart, the man she loves beyond anything else. But this is also the one person in the world that can cause her the most pain.
Life’s not always easy. Love’s not for the faint of heart. But with life comes lessons and Ty and Elin have the scars to prove it. But it's their love written in those scars that will hold them together … or break them apart.

My Thoughts on Written in the Scars

I’ve been a huge fan of Adriana Locke’s since she first released her debut novel and when I saw she doing not her normal sexy read, I was very intrigued.  She definitely had to go to some dark places to write this one as it touches on so many emotional levels.  I know many of my book buddies were brought to tears but unfortunately there were no tears for me.  But I did think it was a very well written story love story that will have you looking at your own lives and being thankful for those who are around us that we love and cherish.  I hope to see more emotional driven books from Ms Locke as I did enjoy it much more than  her previous release. Written in the Scars is one that I would highly recommend and rate at a solid 4 stars.

Elin and Ty are struggling to keep their marriage in tact.  They live in a small town were mining is all they know.  After an accident at the mine, Ty has a hard time finding his own place and struggles with his duties in his marriage.  The struggles to provide are too much and he ends up leaving Elin to figure things out.  This devastate Elin as she feels abandoned.  Months go by and he reappears out of no where.  They must now either fight for the love they once had or decide to let it go forever.  Is the love they shared worth the fight in the first place?

Tragedy will strike again in the small town and it can either rip them apart or bring them closer together.  They will need to draw strength from each other, but only if they can survive it.  Written in the Scars also has a great supporting cast of characters.  Sometimes family isn’t defined through blood and these supporting cast was more than just best friends.  They were family.  I hope you take the time to read Written in the Scars,  its a beautiful story of fighting for what you love and finding hope when you think all is lost.
